The death of an immigrant worker while cleaning the inside of a tanker trailer has led to a proposed $276,176 fine against an Indiana truck stop.
Heartland Truck Stop and Wash, in Logansport, was cited by the Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration for six serious violations and five “knowing” violations, the equivalent of a federal OSHA willful violation.
The citations, posted Tuesday, alleged Heartland didn’t follow several requirements for protecting workers assigned to enter confined spaces including tanker trailers.
