ALBANY — A truck hauling scrap metal rolled over on a street leading to the Port of Albany Tuesday, dropping its load on the pavement and forcing police to close the street.

The incident occurred near where Broadway and Quay Street meet along the Hudson River below Interstate 787. Albany Police Officer Steve Smith said a preliminary investigation found that speed was a factor in the crash. The driver was charged with imprudent speed.

The area was closed to travel at 1 p.m., but Smith said the street should be reopening by the evening.
