The Board of Supervisors accepted a bid for a new dump truck for the county Road Department.

Waters International of Meridian was the low bidder for the new dump truck which will cost $178,000.

The board accepted the bid for the truck and two options during their Monday meeting. The options include a pintle-hitch for the truck costing $1,367, and an asphalt bed liner costing $8,206.

County Administrator Jeff Mayo has said the dump trucks the county is currently using are old and in bad repair due to years of use.

In other matters, supervisors voted to:

• Accept a bid from Lawn Care Services, LLC, to provide lawn care for all county facilities, except for the Unit building. The company will be paid $1,500, per cutting, every two weeks. Steve Smith is the owner.

• Approve the hiring of Lushay Stuart as a part-time jailer. Supervisors also approved the termination of one jailer. They approved the transition of a jailer from part-time to full-time.

• Accept the meal log for the jail, and the detailed billing report.

• Approve a temporary easement on property on County Roads 204 and 206 so trees that are hanging over the road can be cut. The trees have been deemed a hazard.

• Approve a petition requesting the renaming of the south end of BIA 0022 to South Oswald Road. This will only effect three addresses.

• Approve applying for a Waste Tire Grant with the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality.

• Approve the advertising for bids for materials to be used for projects for 32.9 miles of State Aid roads. The bids will be returnable in April. Supervisors are also seeking bids for permanent traffic control signage, traffic striping and raised road markers.

• Authorized the sale of the old roll-up flooring at the Neshoba County Coliseum.

• Authorized the removal and disposal of old office equipment, computers and printers in the Justice Court building.

• Approve the employee payroll ending February 21 and totaling $236,869.

• Approve the elected officials payroll ending March 1 and totaling $35,755.

• Approve issuing $800 for the  petty cash fund at the Coliseum.

• Accept the purchase clerk’s report for February.

• Authorize Chancery Clerk Guy Nowell and CFO Rhonda Williamson as signatories on the 2022 economic development project checking account.

• Approve an application for Ad Valorem Tax Exemption for Viking Metals LLC.

• Accept request from Leake County for support resolution / Letter in Support of the reconstruction of the Hooper Mill Creek Road from the County Line to Mars Hill Road.

• Approve payment of $5,225 to Matt Boatner Construction for work on the County Annex building.
