A pedestrian died after he was struck by pickup truck while attempting to cross Lillian Highway on Friday.

At about 5 p.m., the 73-year-old Pensacola man was trying to cross Lillian Highway just west of North 79th Avenue. The pedestrian walked into the roadway and into the path of a pickup truck traveling west on Lillian Highway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The driver of the pickup, a 49-year-old man from Lillian, Alabama, was unable to see the pedestrian in time to avoid the collision.

The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck was not injured in the crash.
