The Pennsylvania Turnpike is closed in both directions in Fort Washington after a tanker truck overturned and leaked fuel.
The crash, which involved a tanker truck carrying 8,000 gallons of fuel and at least one car, occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the eastbound lanes of the Turnpike approaching I-476.
SkyForce10 was over the scene as a woman inside the damaged car was placed in an ambulance. Officials have not yet revealed her condition or if anyone else was hurt in the crash.
I-276 is currently closed in both directions between the Norristown Exit #333 and Fort Washington Exit #339 due to the crash and leak. Hazmat crews are cleaning up the area and state police say the lanes will remain closed for hours.
Around 7 p.m., crews removed the center barrier at milepost 336 in order to U-turn motorists stuck in the traffic.
