John Badman|The Telegraph Alton firefighters and police responded to the 1200 block of Washington Avenue in Alton about 12:25 p.m. Wednesday after a male driver lost control of his Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck on a curve near East Elementary School. The driver ended up flipping the truck onto its top. Alton firefighters treated the man in one of their ambulances at the scene. Because of the curve in the road, Alton Police had Washington Avenue closed completely in both directions for a time Wednesday. The roadway was opened in time for school dismissal.

ALTON — One person was injured in a single-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon in Alton.
At about 12:25 p.m. Wednesday, Alton firefighters and police responded to the report of an overturned pickup in the 1200 block of Washington Avenue.
Authorities said the driver, whose name has not been released, lost control of his Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck after coming around a curve near East Elementary School, flipping the truck onto its top. Alton firefighters treated the man in one of their ambulances at the scene, but it was unclear if he was transported to a hospital.
Because of the curve in the road, Alton Police had Washington Avenue closed completely in both directions for a time, but the roadway was opened in time for school dismissal.
