SCHENECTADY — A driver who failed to stop at a red light while driving north on Nott Terrace early Monday caused a crash involving a city-operated plow truck, according to police.

The crash happened at approximately 1:09 a.m. when the operator of a Kia Soul failed to stop at a red light, crashing into a plow-truck operator that was heading east on Liberty Street, according to city police.

No injuries were reported. The driver of the Kia, who police did not identify, was issued a ticket.

The crash capped off a busy day for police, who responded to dozens of crashes over the day Sunday as freezing rain coated the region in a slick sheet of ice up to 1/10″ thick in some spots, according to the National Weather Service.

Officers responded to a total of 38 crashes throughout Sunday as a result of the storm, though whether any involved injuries remains unclear, according to Patrick Irwin, a police spokesman.
